RECIPES

Grains of Youth Body Scrub

In a bowl, mix juice and rind from 1 lemon, 2 tablespoons of honey, 5 tablespoons raw sugar, and 5 drops sweet almond or peppermint extract. Massage in circular motion over body, paying special attention to dry areas such as your knees and elbows. When finished, rinse thoroughly.

Brace Yourself Body Spritz

In a spray bottle, place 5 ounces of distilled water, 1 teaspoon olive oil, 6 drops of rosemary essential oil, and 1 sprig of fresh rosemary. Shake well to mix; spritz on as desired. This sense-stimulating mist is superb post-shower, after you’ve toweled off but skin is still a bit damp.

Serene Body Steam

In a small bowl filled with clean stones, put 8 drops of your favorite essential oil. Place the bowl on the floor of the shower, out of the spray; steam will activate oils, releasing a refreshing scent. Bring water temperature down to a more comfortable level and step in shower. Stay there for 10 minutes, breathing deeply. Towel dry. This can boost energy and quell anxiety.

Amazing Aroma Body Scrub

Briefly whirl ½ cup oatmeal in your blender, and then combine with 1 cup cornmeal in a bowl. Stir in warm water a little at a time to form paste; then 2 tablespoons honey and a couple of drops of purchased essential oil.

Sipping Pretty

This fruity elixir goes down easy and contains loads of antioxidants to fight skin damage from the inside out. In a blender, combine ½ cup each of low-fat milk and ice until smooth. Gradually add 1 ½ scoops vanilla-flavored soy protein powder, then ½ cup blueberries or strawberries, 2 teaspoons vitamin C powder, 5 drops vitamin E with wheat germ and 1 tablespoon flaxseed oil.

Pot Luck

On the skin-softening ladder, body butters are a rung above basic body creams. They are noticeably thicker and packed with extra-rich emollients to keep dryness at bay. Examples of butters include cucumber Shea Butter, Beeswax, and Kiwi Lotus Body Butter.

Aging Spots

Use drops of lemon juice in your bath to get rid of aging spots.

Milk Bath

1 cup of powdered milk

1 cup of ground oatmeal

10 finely ground almonds

10 drops of lang lang oil

Add 2 to 3 tablespoons to a warm bath. Place the recipe on a decorative card and put the mixture in a jar with a bow as a gift for friends and family.

Massage Oil

Use 2 to 3 drops of an essential oil such as Canola, Olive, Hazelnut, or Sweet Almond

2 to 3 drops of Balsam

3 drops of Peppermint Oil

Combine ingredients, and store in the refrigerator. Heat in the microwave. Store in a glass bottle.

Baby Powder

1 cup of corn starch

¼ cup of baking soda

2 to 3 drops of lavender oil

Combine in a bottle or old spice jar, and apply freely.

Baby Oil

Grape seed Oil

Canola Oil

Powdered milk

Ground oatmeal

Baking soda

Combine ingredients if you are out of baby oil.

Powder Bath

1 cup milk

¼ cup of oatmeal

2 to 3 drops of lavender oil

Combine mixture and add 1 tablespoon to your bath.

Body Salt Glow

1 ½ cup of Epson salt

1 cup canola oil

½ cup of orange juice

5 drops of lemon juice or another essential oil

5 drops of food coloring

Store in a plastic container or jar.

Herbal Bath Tea Leaves

Combine your favorite natural herbs such as rosemary, peppermint, cloves, all spice, ginger, bay leaves, and lavender oil. Put in a cute tea bag, and wrap with ribbon. Let the bag seep in hot water about 20 minutes. Then, get in the bathtub, and enjoy.

HEALTH ISSUES

Unwanted Hair

For women, unwanted hair on the body is one of the most frustrating things to get rid of. Not only is it expensive to permanently remove unwanted hair, but it is usually painful. Find the best method for you.

Wrinkles

As we age, wrinkles are inevitable. The most important thing a woman can do is to treat wrinkles as they appear.

Neutrogena Retinol Face Moisturizer, Rapid Wrinkle Repair with SPF 30 Sunscreen, Daily Anti-Aging Face Cream with Retinol & Hyaluronic Acid to Fight Fine Lines, Wrinkles, & Dark Spots, 1 fl. oz
Neutrogena Retinol Face Moisturizer, Rapid Wrinkle Repair with SPF 30 Sunscreen, Daily Anti-Aging Face Cream with Retinol & Hyaluronic Acid to Fight Fine Lines, Wrinkles, & Dark Spots, 1 fl. oz
This rapid wrinkle repair contains sunscreen. Results are visible within one week. It makes skin smoother and younger-looking. It's clinically proven to help fade the look of stubborn deep wrinkles, including crow's feet, forehead, and cheek wrinkles; brightens skin's tone; smooths fine lines and texture; and protects skin from the sun's damaging rays.

Cellulite

Unfortunately, as we age, our weight fluctuates. This can lead to unseemly cellulite.

Overweight

Phoenix 98510 Easy-Up Manual Treadmill
Most treadmills are frightfully expensive, with bulky electric motors that power the treadmill while jacking up the price. No so the Phoenix Easy-Up manual treadmill, which asks the user to power the belt instead. The treadmill is outfitted with a heavy-duty weighted flywheel and a sturdy running belt that respond to your walking/jogging speed. The faster you run, the faster the belt spins, letting you reach whatever speed is comfortable. At the same time, the treadmill isn't completely low tech, as it offers a single-button electronics display that tracks your speed, distance, time, and calories (includes two AA batteries). And users with small homes or apartments will love the spring-loaded pull pin, which lets you fold up the treadmill, lock it in place, and store it in a closet or garage.

Dry Skin

Dry skin can occur because of the weather in the region you live in or because of poor skin care. It is a fairly easy problem to fix.

HOW TO DECORATE YOUR BATHROOM

Follow these tips for creative ways to decorate your bathroom.

  • Use a laundry sorter if you have room, and if it will help you keep your dirty clothes in order.
  • Cover the shelves with straw boxes for neatly storing curlers, nail polishes, hairbrushes, and other beauty supplies.
  • Arrange towels and toiletries on the most easily reached shelves in an open linen closet.
  • Leave the handsome bottles out in view; hide others in wooden drawers.
  • Staple a canvas lining to catchalls for a crisp, clean finish.
  • Scout garage sales for a tiered fancy pastry plate, like a milk-glass version. It provides a pretty platform for bathroom staples.
  • Transform a small metal toolbox into a handy make-up caddy. The foldaway side compartments are perfects for earrings, money clips, glasses, etc. while the lower section is roomy enough for neatly rolled ties.
  • Organize bathroom shelves with rows of woven baskets lined with variously patterned blue and white hand towels. Have someone handy with a needle embroider monograms or word on vintage hankies as labels. Pick up blue tinted toiletries from soaps to refreshing spritzes whenever you see them.

  • A hatbox is roomy enough to hold bath essentials such as extra face towels and grooming supplies.
  • A pristine bath has decorating possibilities galore. Set the tone with a print or moody photograph, and then pick up the nostalgic note with lace-trimmed towels, a pitcher of roses. An old candelabra with tall tapers lends just the right glow.
  • A freestanding Venetian-glass mirror turns a bathroom sink into an ornate vanity.
  • A leafy chandelier is an unusual but surprising fitting fixture.
  • Towels can be designed for guess with weekday monograms or tacked-on ribbons or lace.
  • Candles always cast a flattering light in a bathroom.
